Brand Ambassador: Anna Danby
Anna describes herself as a Mountain Leader, rock climber, runner, wild swimmer, occasional yogi, partner, and mum. For as long as she can remember she has loved spending time outdoors.

About Anna
Anna grew up in the Yorkshire countryside and came to study Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education at Edinburgh university where she quickly fell in love with Scotland.
Six years ago Anna moved north to the Highlands and has never felt more at home. Living in rural Scotland enables the perfect balance between adventure, family and work life.
When it comes to personal adventures Anna’s main passion is rock climbing. She considers climbing to be a moving meditation and a powerful reminder of just how capable we are.
Climbing has taken her to some amazing places, remote mountains, sea cliffs, epic coastlines. There is always something so special about getting to go to places few humans have trod.
Most importantly pushing her limits on rock has enabled Anna to develop a confidence in herself that spills over to every area of life.

“Completing a rock climb, especially a hard one, is a physical and mental puzzle that demands a focus and presence of mind that I don’t find anywhere else in life.”

Wild Roots
Her love for the outdoors and passion to share it with others led Anna to set up Wild Roots Highland Guiding in 2020.
The business is founded on the firm belief that spending time in wild places, challenging our bodies whilst also being present with our minds, is really very good for us. Even more so when we take the time to actively foster a personal connection with the places that we move through.
“I’ve always been interested in learning about landscapes and understanding why the world looks the way it does.”
Wild Roots offers immersive journeys and mountain skills courses focussed on helping people build skills, confidence and resilience through personal challenge and conscious reflection. Anna aims to remove some of the barriers to accessing the outdoors through creating an inclusive environment where all are welcome, providing kit and making trips compatible with public transport.
“There are few moments more special than a mountain sunrise, enjoyed from your tent with a great cup of coffee in hand. Great coffee and adventure are natural partners and I am excited to continue to build this relationship into the future.”
